THOMPSONVILLE Meet the Alpacas at the Spring Open Farm Weekend

From 10:00AM to 4:00PM

Cotton Creek Farms is excited to announce its Open Farm Weekend on April 29 and 30, 2023. This free family event is open to the public and promises to be a day of fun for all ages. The Open Farm Weekend is an opportunity for visitors to explore the alpaca farm, chat with farm staff, and meet the alpaca herd. Guests will have a chance to interact, hand feed, and take photos with the alpacas; learn about fiber processing; and see real alpaca products in the farm store. The alpacas are scheduled for their annual shearing in early May, so this will be the last opportunity for farm visitors to see the alpacas in their full fleece. In addition to touring the farm and meeting the alpacas, visitors can purchase a low-cost lunch provided by Howard’s Great Lakes Grill. This year the farm is requesting visitors help support the Buckley Food Pantry. A non-perishable food item or small cash donation is requested. The pantry serves over 200 households and families, which equals about 700 people each month across Buckley, Mesick, Manton, Cadillac, Grawn, Traverse City, Copemish, Thompsonville, Kaleva, and the Bear Lake areas. The Open Farm Weekend will take place on April 29 and April 30 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. For more information or directions, please visit https://cottoncreekfarms.com/.

MIDLAND The Other Mozart

From 7:30PM to 9:30PM

Called “Fascinating and irresistibly intelligent” by Theatermania, THE OTHER MOZART is the true, forgotten story of Nannerl Mozart, the sister of Amadeus—prodigy, keyboard virtuoso, and composer who performed throughout Europe with her brother, to equal acclaim. But because she was a woman, her work and her story faded away, lost to history. With opulent beauty, this multi-sensory experience transports the audience to a world of outsized spectacle and delight—and also of overwhelming restrictions and prejudice. There, in communion with the audience, this other Mozart, portrayed by actress and creator Sylvia Milo in a stunning 18-foot dress, tells her story through the Mozart family’s humorous and heartbreaking letters.
