Mike Dawson

Afternoons from 3pm to 7pm

Dawson got his first job in music when he was fourteen. He was a backstage concession manager at the Concord Pavilion in the San Francisco Bay Area. He was given an all access pass because he could play table tennis well.

One night, he passed Jerry Garcia backstage at a Bruce Hornsby concert and called out "Jerry!." Jerry turned around and said, "yeah?". Dawson replied, "just checking, man." Jerry smiled and Dawson went back to work. Dawson found out later that was the night Hornsby was asked to play with the Grateful Dead after the death of Brent Mydland.

A few weeks later, Gene Simmons showed Dawson his tongue backstage at a Kiss concert.

A few weeks after that, Dawson was fired for hustling BB Kings bass player in table tennis.

After those experiences, Dawson knew he was bit by the music bug and he'd never work a real job again.

On a side note: Dawson believes that AC/DC is simultaneously the most overrated and underrated band of all time. Dawson urges you to dig into their catalog to see what he means.
